January of 2014
kcdad
Here we are in January of 2014... the end of January.
I have begun on a journey of writing... I am working on a series of humorous skits, a play, and a book.

I have discovered a couple of insights in the past few days...
1) People who are uneducated AND speak out on political, religious, or economic issues are USUALLY / ALMOST ALWAYS conservatives. There are uneducated liberals but they are generally smart enough to know they are uneducated. Conservatives on the other hand, seem to see it as a badge of honor.

2) Most people can not get around the idea that money is not necessary to live. That single premise is keeping us from any real progress as a species.

Veterans Day
kcdad
Funny how all of sudden everyone is proud of the veterans... everyone is proud to have served... everyone cares about those serving overseas...

BULLSHIT.

I served, got paid, got health benefits and got out. I did my duty and got paid quite well for it including a Master's Degree, and no down low interest mortgage through the GI Bill.

It angers me that some enter the service for patriotic reasons (or so they claim) and get sent overseas to fight some ridiculous imperialistic war for natural resources and strategic global logistics. They come home (from Iraq, Afghanistan) with PTSD, lung and brain disorders or injuries and are quickly forgotten as more go to replace them...

Why do you think so many of those being shipped overseas were Reserves and National Guard and NOT regulars? Stop and think about it for a couple of minutes... WHY not regulars?

If it were a REAL war, they would have sent the regulars. The trained professionals. Instead they sent the weekend warriors, the "Stand ins".

You want to remember and honor the veterans?
END THE MADNESS of using war as a political and economic tool.

November 2012

A gotta hand it to Illinois Central College... they are nothing if not consistent. I received a notice from SURS (The state teachers retirement fund)on Tuesday informing me that my employment at I.C.C. had been terminated. Very interesting... 1) I.C.C. never informed me of that. 2) I have now bee effectively unemployed for 10 weeks or more. (I had taught in the fall mini-mester in August and was told to check the spring schedule in November.)

It doesn't surprise me that they operate this way... they have been doing similar things for the 9 years I have worked there. (Beginning with hiring me two days before a class started, a three hour lecture, and not getting me a text until THAT day.) For the past two years they have been using my reputation to fill classes: They would put my name as instructor until the class filled up and then reassign the class to a full time faculty who the students hate and wouldn't sign up for if the class was free.

They are typical of many colleges who operate as "non-profits", and as "community colleges"; they may have nothing they can call profits, but that is because they waste so much of their income on nonsense (recruiting students from other states and countries... (FOR A COMMUNITY COLLEGE!!!) and graft and lining the pockets of the administration.

They have NO interest in educating the students that attend (if they do receive an education, that is not even acknowledged)they are merely interested in filling seats in the classrooms and collecting as much state and local money as possible. 80% of the staff is adjunct faculty teaching for minimum wages ($16,000 a year MAX) and the full time staff has been around so long they are teaching the exact same classes they taught 30 years ago.. the same lectures, the same assignments...

In short they are in the business of selling certificates and diplomas that mean NOTHING except that the recipient has stumbled his way through the gauntlet and paid his tuition and fees.

Sorkin's done it again!

Rally for Religious Freedom (Wall Street)

Today hundreds of not thousands of religious folk are protesting a NYC law that forbids religious groups from holding religious services in public schools.

Using "religious persecution" and "attacks on religion" and other inflammatory rhetoric, you might think we were burning witches or Huguenots, or conducting some kind of inquisition to root out all the Jews pretending to be Catholic (to avoid the bigotry and persecution they were receiving for not being Catholic).

I wonder if they know there are dozens of private church affiliated schools in Manhattan, and many more private non-sectarian schools... I wonder why they don't use them?

More on the Trayvon Martin murder

Good ole Glenn Beck:
"Yet, “the left is saying that you don’t have a right to stand your ground.”"

Really? Name any one person who said that!

"He (Beck) also noted that Zimmerman will likely become a poster child for police brutality and racism even though the police were not the ones who committed the crime, and thus far, only stand accused of conducting a sloppy investigation."

REALLY? "Sloppy"? a month has gone by and no arrest, no charges... no NOTHING.
How about... The police response has been: WHAT CRIME? IT WAS BLACK TEEN IN A HOODIE. FAIR GAME.

I want to give you legal and practical background to the murder of Trayvon Martin in Stanford, Florida on Feb 26, 2012

Here are the "facts"

Trayvon, a slender 17 year old African American, walked to a convenient store to buy a bottle of Ice tea and Skittles. On his way home, he was confronted by, assaulted, and then shot to death by George Zimmerman, a 28 year old husky white man.
During the events, Zimmerman had called 911 and reported a suspicious person doing suspicious things and had been told to stand down and allow the police (who were on their way) to handle the situation.
Evidence of the "facts":
1) The 911 tapes
2) Trayvon was on his cell phone at the time of the confrontation to a friend who reported the entire incident to police
3) Witnesses who saw or heard the confrontation

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

I think the real clear evidence of police misconduct and/or incompetence and /or intentional coverup is :
1) The parents were not informed for 3 days
2) The victim was drug tested, but not the shooter
3) The shooter has STILL not been charged or arrested
4) ONLY when the FBI was called in has information from the police become available about the 911 call, the cell phone conversation and the witnesses
5) The police officer that handled the report ALSO handled the report of his own son beating a homeless man up... (where no charges were filed)

It is essential to our freedom that you read what these people have to say and remember who they are...

Ann Coulter

"We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity. We weren't punctilious about locating and punishing only Hitler and his top officers. We carpet-bombed German cities; we killed civilians. That's war. And this is war."

"Not all Muslims may be terrorists, but all terrorists are Muslims."

"Being nice to people is, in fact, one of the incidental tenets of Christianity, as opposed to other religions whose tenets are more along the lines of 'kill everyone who doesn't smell bad and doesn't answer to the name Mohammed'"

Bailey Smith

"With all due respect to those dear people, my friend, God Almighty does not hear the prayer of a Jew."

Beverly LaHaye (Concerned Women for America)

"Yes, religion and politics do mix. America is a nation based on biblical principles. Christian values dominate our government. The test of those values is the Bible. Politicians who do not use the bible to guide their public and private lives do not belong in office."

Bob Dornan (Rep. R-CA)

"Don't use the word 'gay' unless it's an acronym for 'Got Aids Yet'"

David Barton (Wallbuilders)

"There should be absolutely no 'Separation of Church and State' in America."

David Trosch

"Sodomy is a graver sin than murder. – Unless there is life there can be no murder."

"You telling these miserable, Hell-bound, bath house-wallowing, anal-copulating fags that God loves them!? You have bats in the belfry!"

"American Veterans are to blame for the fag takeover of this nation. They have the power in their political lobby to influence the zeitgeist, get the fags out of the military, and back in the closet where they belong!"

"Not only is homosexuality a sin, but anyone who supports fags is just as guilty as they are. You are both worthy of death."

Gary Bauer (American Values)

"We are engaged in a social, political, and cultural war. There's a lot of talk in America about pluralism. But the bottom line is somebody's values will prevail. And the winner gets the right to teach our children what to believe."

Gary North (Institute for Christian Economics)

"The long-term goal of Christians in politics should be to gain exclusive control over the franchise. Those who refuse to submit publicly to the eternal sanctions of God by submitting to His Church's public marks of the covenant–baptism and holy communion–must be denied citizenship."

"This is God's world, not Satan's. Christians are the lawful heirs, not non-Christians."

Gary Potter (Catholics for Christian Political Action)

"When the Christian majority takes over this country, there will be no satanic churches, no more free distribution of pornography, no more talk of rights for homosexuals. After the Christian majority takes control, pluralism will be seen as immoral and evil and the state will not permit anybody the right to practice evil."

"AIDS is a racial disease of Jews and Niggers, and fortunately it is wiping out the queers. I guess God hates queers for several reasons. There is one big reason to be against queers and that is because every time some white boy is seduced by a queer into becoming a queer, means his white bloodline has run out."

James Dobson (Focus on the Family)

"Those who control the access to the minds of children will set the agenda for the future of the nation and the future of the western world."

"We need a legal strategy which protects the rights of those of us who hold Christian convictions which will afford us the opportunity to contend once again for the mind of this culture."

Laura Schlessinger

"I want to coin a phrase here, and I don't mind help. What would be the communication version of "ethnic cleansing?" Because that's what in particular the homosexual activists try to do."

Lester Roloff (1914 - 1982)(Texas Homes for Wayward Youth)

"Better a pink bottom than a black soul."*

*Roloff opened a chain of homes for "wayward" youth in the state of Texas; he was later jailed in 1973 and again in 1975 for child abuse due to the punitive punishment techniques used in his homes. He was then specifically given permision to re-open his homes by Governor George W Bush.

"Rail as they will about 'discrimination,' women are simply not endowed by nature with the same measures of single-minded ambition and the will to succeed in the fiercely competitive world of Western capitalism."

Pat Robertson (Christian Coalition)

"The Islamic people, the Arabs, were the ones who captured Africans, put them in slavery, and sent them to America as slaves. Why would the people in America want to embrace the religion of slavers?"

"Just like what Nazi Germany did to the Jews, so liberal America is now doing to the evangelical Christians. It's no different...More terrible than anything suffered by any minority in history."

"When lawlessness is abroad in the land, the same thing will happen here that happened in Nazi Germany. Many of those people involved with Adolph Hitler were Satanists, many of them were homosexuals – the two things seem to go together."

"The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism, and become lesbians."

"You say you're supposed to be nice to the Episcopalians and the Presbyterians and the Methodists and this, that, and the other thing. Nonsense, I don't have to be nice to the spirit of the Antichrist."

"Our goal must be simple. We must have a Christian nation built on God's law, on the ten Commandments. No apologies."

"I don't think Christians should use birth control. You consummate your marriage as often as you like – and if you have babies, you have babies."

"When I, or people like me, are running the country, you'd better flee, because we will find you, we will try you, and we'll execute you. I mean every word of it. I will make it part of my mission to see to it that they are tried and executed."

William Rehnquist (1924 - 2005)(Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court)

"The 'wall of separation between church and state' is a metaphor based on bad history, a metaphor which has proved useless as a guide to judging. It should be frankly and explicitly abandoned."

Michael Savage (Savage Nation)

"Oh, you're one of the sodomites. You should only get AIDS and die, you pig. How's that? Why don't you see if you can sue me, you pig. You got nothing better than to put me down, you piece of garbage. You have got nothing to do today, go eat a sausage and choke on it."*
